Two documents, one flow
In Brazil, services and goods are invoiced with different documents before different authorities: the NFS-e, from the national system, and the NF-e, from each state's SEFAZ. Cord decides from the line items: all services go to the NFS-e, all products with their tax data go to the NF-e, and a mix stops and explains that these are two documents.
National-standard NFS-e (services)
- Issued directly with the national NFS-e system using the business's ICP-Brasil A1 certificate.
- The business's own series and number, one service from the national list per note, ISS included in the price, and ISS withheld by the buyer where applicable.
- Simples Nacional with its approximate tax percentage, and discounts as unconditional discounts.
- Cancellation by event, checked first so it's never duplicated. The NFS-e has no credit note: it is canceled and issued again.
Model 55 NF-e (goods)
- Synchronous authorization with your state's authorizing SEFAZ, with automatic contingency on the SVC when the SEFAZ doesn't receive the request.
- Simples Nacional and MEI within the state and to other states; Regular Regime with in-state ICMS, IPI, PIS/COFINS and IBS/CBS, mandatory for that regime since August 3, 2026.
- Cancellation within 24 hours, Carta de Correção, number inutilização and the DANFE.
- Gap-free numbering: a number that never went out is reused, and one already held by another document is checked before moving on.
Why it is in beta
Every document is validated against the official schemas and tables, but the authority requires a client certificate even to query: the first real issuance with a taxpayer's certificate is still pending. In addition, the states of AM, MS, PE, PR, SC and TO require details of the software's technical lead (responsável técnico) that Cord doesn't have yet, and stay out until then.
How it works
The business uploads its A1 certificate and fills in municipality, series, regime and its products' tax data.
Cord decides whether the document is an NFS-e or an NF-e from the line items and sends it to the right authority.
It stores the authorized XML, prints the document and, if the response is lost, queries before retrying.
Availability and scope
Businesses in Brazil on Starter or higher, with their municipality on the national NFS-e or enabled as NF-e issuers with their state's SEFAZ. Each authorized note counts toward the tax-compliant invoice allowance; homologation notes don't.
Clear limits
It doesn't issue exports, foreign currency, tax substitution, DIFAL, returns of goods or federal withholdings. The Simples Nacional NF-e requires IBS/CBS from January 4, 2027, and Cord won't issue it until its rules are published.
