An invoice your customer's system can read

More and more customers in Europe don't want a PDF: they want an invoice their accounting system reads on its own. Cord writes the invoice in the formats of the European standard EN 16931 from the same data frozen at issue time, without recalculating a single amount.

What's included

  • Three EN 16931 formats: Factur-X EN 16931 profile, a PDF/A-3 with the XML inside that is also valid as ZUGFeRD; XRechnung 3.0, in UBL or CII; and Peppol BIS Billing 3.0.
  • Download and email: the invoice detail lists the formats available and what's missing for the others, and the customer link offers the available ones. In the email, Factur-X replaces the PDF and XRechnung is attached alongside it. By default, Factur-X in France and XRechnung in Germany.
  • To the cent or not at all: totals are checked against the document before it's generated. An invoice that doesn't add up or is missing a field fails with the reason and where to fix it.
  • Exemptions with their reason: each 0% line carries its category and exemption reason, and the PDF cites the legal provision.
  • Buyer data: buyer reference, purchase order, electronic address and, for the German public sector, the Leitweg-ID with its check digit, from the editor and the API.
  • Checked against the official validators: every change runs through KoSIT's XRechnung validators, the EN 16931 schematron, the Peppol rules and PDF/A validation.

Clear limits

Cord generates and attaches; it does not transmit over the Peppol network. The exception is France, where transmission through an approved platform is in beta. An invoice with withholdings can't be represented in EN 16931; in Spain it is delivered as Facturae.

How it works

  1. In Settings › Tax profile, fill in the contact, the electronic address and the email format.

  2. On issue, Cord builds the e-invoice from the frozen document and checks every total.

  3. Download it from the invoice or send it with the email; if something doesn't add up, you see what's missing and where to fix it.

Availability and scope

Invoices and credit notes from issuers established in Germany and France; in Spain, on invoices registered with Verifactu.

Clear limits

Only for EU issuers and on invoices, not pro formas. Currencies with three decimals and invoices with withholdings fail with their reason. Cord doesn't transmit over the Peppol network.
