Zapier

Connect Cord with thousands of apps without writing code: your Zaps start when something happens in Cord and can create data in Cord.

What it does

The Cord app for Zapier has instant triggers (a Zap starts as soon as something happens in Cord), actions (the Zap creates or changes data in Cord) and searches (the Zap finds a client or a quote before acting). It is authorized with one click on a Cord screen: you do not create or paste any key.

Requirements

Where What you need
Cord The Settings permission in the workspace you are connecting. Any plan.
Zapier A Zapier account. What you can build (how many Zaps, how many steps) depends on your Zapier plan.
Quota Every action and search uses calls from your Cord plan’s monthly API quota. See Limits.

Connect the Cord app

The Cord app for Zapier is shared by invitation. In Settings › Integrations › Zapier there is an Open Cord on Zapier button that goes straight to the invitation.

  1. Accept the invitation. Click Open Cord on Zapier and accept. Zapier adds Cord to your apps.
  2. Create a Zap. Choose Cord as the trigger or as an action and click Connect.
  3. Authorize in Cord. A Cord screen opens where you pick the workspace and click Authorize. The screen says what Zapier will and will not be able to do: it cannot see passwords or card details, change your plan or manage your team.
  4. Test the Zap. Zapier brings in a sample event so you can map the fields in the following steps.

Zapier renews the access on its own. The connection shows up in Cord as Zapier’s Authorized connection, in the API keys tab of the Cord Workbench.

Cord authorization screen opened from Zapier: choose the workspace (Materiales del Valle), see what Zapier will and will not be able to do, with the Cancel and Authorize buttons.

What the app includes

Type What you can do
Instant triggers Quote created, sent, opened by the client, approved, rejected or paid; partial payment received; invoice paid; new client; or New Event, to pick any of Cord’s 42 events.
Actions Create client, update client, create quote (with line items, currency, terms, validity and the option to send it right away), send quote, mark quote as paid and create task.
Searches Client by exact email or by name, and quote by number.

The list of the 42 events is in Triggers and in Webhooks for developers.

What flows and in which direction

Direction What flows When
From Cord to Zapier The event you chose, with the object’s data: number, client, total, currency, status and the public link for a quote. Instantly, every time it happens in Cord.
From Zapier to Cord Whatever the action does: a new or updated client, a new or sent quote, a recorded payment or a task. When the Zap runs.
Searches Zapier reads a client or a quote to use it in the next step. It changes nothing. When the Zap runs.

What an action does in Cord fires the same events as if a person had done it, with Who caused it: The API. If you have workflows or Zaps listening to those events, they run too.

Limits

Limit Value
API calls per month Free 100, Starter 1,000, Pro 5,000, Scale 10,000, Developer 50,000
When you go over the quota On Free, calls are rejected until the next month; from Starter they are billed as overage, with a safety cap of 10 times what is included
Webhooks created by your Zaps 100 per organization, separate from your plan’s webhook endpoints
Live authorized connections 25 per app and per organization
  • What uses quota: every action and every search (at least one call; some actions read the quote after changing it) and registering or removing the webhook when you turn a Zap on or off. Receiving events does not use quota.
  • How much you have used: in Settings › Plans & subscription › Subscription, API calls row.
  • Every active Zap with a Cord trigger creates its own webhook in Cord; when you turn the Zap off, Zapier removes it.

Disconnect

There are two levels, depending on whether you want to turn off one Zap or cut Zapier’s access completely.

Turn off one Zap: turn it off or delete it in Zapier. Zapier removes the webhook that Zap had created in Cord; the other Zaps keep working.

Cut Zapier’s access to Cord:

  1. Go to Settings › Integrations › Zapier and click View authorized connections. The API keys tab of the Cord Workbench opens.
  2. Find Zapier’s Authorized connection row, with the OAuth tag.
  3. Click Revoke and confirm.

From that moment Zapier can no longer call the API with that connection, and the webhooks its Zaps had created stop receiving events. In Zapier, Cord Zaps fail with an authorization error until you connect the account again. If you also want to remove the account from Zapier, delete it in Zapier’s My Apps.

Alternative: Webhooks by Zapier

If you prefer not to install the app, you can connect Zapier with the generic modules. Webhooks by Zapier is a Zapier app available on its paid plans.

  1. Create the Zap. In Zapier, choose Webhooks by Zapier › Catch Hook as the trigger and copy the URL it gives you.
  2. Register the endpoint in Cord. Turn on Developer mode (Your account › Preferences), open the Workbench’s Webhooks tab, paste the Zapier URL and save.
  3. Choose the events, for example quote.approved.
  4. Send a test event. Click Test on the Cord endpoint and, in Zapier, Test trigger. Zapier shows the fields: event, data__folio, data__total, data__cliente, and so on.
  5. Add the Zap’s actions and turn it on.

Each event carries id, event, created_at and data. If you register several events on one endpoint, add a Filter by Zapier or Paths step on the event field.

Zapier does not verify Cord’s signature. Treat the Catch Hook URL as a secret; if you think it leaked, delete the endpoint in Cord and create a new Zap.

Endpoints you register this way count toward your plan’s webhook limit: 16 on Free, Starter and Pro; 32 on Scale; 100 on Developer.

Examples

  • Quote paid → Google Sheets: Quote Paid trigger → Google Sheets › Create Spreadsheet Row. (If you only want the spreadsheet, the direct Google Sheets integration does not use quota.)
  • New lead in your form → client in Cord: your form app → Find Client by email → if it does not exist, Create Client.
  • Quote approved → new project: Quote Approved trigger → Asana, Trello or ClickUp › Create task.

Common problems

Message or symptom What to do
“You cannot connect apps here” when authorizing Your user does not have the Settings permission in that workspace. Ask someone who has it to authorize, or sign in with another account.
“The return address of this request does not match…” Start the connection again from Zapier, not from a saved link.
The Zap fails with an authorization error The connection was revoked in Cord. Connect the Cord account again in Zapier.
The Zap fails with 429 You went over the per-minute limit or the monthly API quota. Check your usage in Settings › Plans & subscription; on Free, wait for the next month or upgrade.
Cord says your integrations reached the maximum of 100 subscriptions per organization Turn off the Zaps, scenarios or n8n flows you no longer use to free up space.
The trigger receives no events Check that the Zap is on and that the event happens after turning it on: a Zap does not receive earlier events. To test, cause the real event, for example by sending a quote to your own email.
