Accepting a payment

Offer your customers a native payment experience, without leaving the cotización.

The embedded checkout

Once the customer approves the cotización (and signs electronically), the cotización link transforms. Instead of the approve button, the payment checkout appears — a screen embedded directly into the document, with your brand and colors.

If you activated more than one method (see Payment methods), the customer first explicitly picks how they want to pay — Card or SPEI — before seeing any form. If you only activated one, it shows directly.

Paying by card

  • Native form embedded in the document, no redirects to any external site.
  • Accepts Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
  • As soon as the customer confirms, the cotización flips to “Paid” within seconds and funds are deposited into your bank account on the next deposit cycle.
  • The only method compatible with recurring retainers.

Paying by SPEI

SPEI is a Mexico-only rail: it only shows up as an option when the cotización is denominated in Mexican pesos (MXN). If the business quotes in another currency, the customer pays by card even if the seller has SPEI enabled.

  • When the customer picks “SPEI Transfer”, Cord Payments generates a unique interbank CLABE, tied exclusively to that payment, and shows it on an instructions screen — the customer never leaves the cotización link or sees a third-party form.
  • The customer transfers from their online banking to that CLABE.
  • Automatic reconciliation: as soon as the money arrives, Cord detects the deposit, flips the cotización to “Paid”, and notifies both parties — no need to cross-reference receipts by hand.

Card and SPEI have different fees (see the full detail in Fees and advantages); that table is the current schedule for payments in Mexican pesos.

Partial payments and deposits

What happens if you configured a 50% deposit on the cotización?

  1. The initial checkout shows only the deposit amount.
  2. Once the customer pays it, the cotización is marked “Deposit paid” and the balance is pending according to your terms (cash or credit).
  3. When it’s time to collect the balance, Cord emails the customer a button to settle it, which takes them back to the same checkout for the remaining amount.
