Shopify
Your store catalog and customers, ready to quote, and the order back when you close.
How it works
With Shopify connected, your catalog and customers come into Cord and stay current. You quote wholesale with the prices and SKUs you already have, and when the quote closes, Cord can create the order in your store so fulfillment and inventory live there.
Cord reads your store and writes only what you turn on. Products and customers come in on their own; orders start switched off. Cord never changes prices or edits your catalog.
Requirements
| Where | What you need |
|---|---|
| Cord | The Settings permission. Any plan, but the products and customers that come in count against your plan’s limit: 50 and 50 on Free, 500 and 500 on Starter, no limit from Pro. |
| Shopify | A store and a user who can install apps on it. The domain ending in myshopify.com. |
| B2B prices | A store with Shopify B2B, which is available on Shopify Plus. |
| Orders in another currency | Your store must have that currency enabled in Shopify › Settings › Markets. |
Connect
- Go to Settings › Integrations › Shopify. You need the Settings permission.
- Enter your store domain ending in
myshopify.com(Shopify › Settings › Domains). - Click Connect Shopify and authorize the app. Shopify shows the permissions: read products and customers, and create orders when you enable it.
- When you come back, the first sync takes a few minutes depending on catalog size.
What comes into Cord
| Data | How it arrives |
|---|---|
| Products | Each variant is a Cord product, with its own price and SKU. A shirt in three sizes arrives as three products. |
| Status | Active if the product is active in Shopify. An out-of-stock product stays active: it can still be quoted. A draft or archived product arrives inactive. |
| Customers | The company comes from the customer’s company in Shopify; if there is none, from the person’s name. An email already in Cord is not duplicated. |
| Deletions | A product deleted in Shopify is deactivated in Cord, not deleted: it may be in a quote already sent. |
Changes in Shopify arrive within seconds. Sync now rereads the whole catalog.
The order back to your store
On the Shopify card you choose when the order is created. It starts off:
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Do not create orders | Default. |
| When the quote is approved | The order is created as a draft in Shopify, ready to fulfill or collect there. |
| When the client pays | Cord collects and the order enters your store marked as paid. |
- Each line with one of your store’s products travels as that variant and reduces inventory; a free-form line travels as an item with its price.
- The price that travels is the negotiated one, with its line discount applied. The document discount or a coupon does not travel to the order: if the quote carries one, the Shopify order ends up above its total, so adjust it in Shopify before fulfilling or collecting from there.
- The order carries the
cordtag and the quote number in a note. - A quote produces a single order, even if the event repeats.
Currencies
- If the quote is in your store’s currency, the order is created as usual.
- If it is in another currency your store has enabled in its markets, the order is created in that currency with the quote’s exact price.
- If your store does not sell in that currency, no order is created: the quote says so in its history and tells you to enable it under Shopify › Settings › Markets. Cord never makes up an exchange rate.
Taxes
The order’s tax is computed by Shopify with your store settings. The tax document that counts is Cord’s.
Stock while quoting
This feature is new and may not be enabled on your account yet. If you do not see it, write to us.
If your store tracks a product’s inventory, Cord brings its stock. In the quote editor, search shows how many are available and, when you add the product, Cord asks your store at that moment. If you quote more than is available, the line says so (“Only 12 in stock”), and an out-of-stock product says Out of stock. Quoting more is not blocked: selling something to be restocked is normal.
B2B prices per client
This feature is new and may not be enabled on your account yet. If you do not see it, write to us.
If your store uses Shopify B2B (available on Shopify Plus), each company buys with its catalog’s price list. When you quote a Cord client linked to a Shopify customer who buys for a company, the editor uses their B2B list as the agreed price of each product from your store, and the line says so: “Their B2B price list”.
- It takes precedence over the client’s tier discount, product by product. A product without a price in the list keeps the tier discount.
- It only applies if the quote is in the list’s currency.
- You can change any line’s price by hand; from then on, what you typed wins.
- When you open a saved draft, its prices are not rewritten; the list applies to products you add.
Invoice your store orders
This feature is new and may not be enabled on your account yet. If you do not see it, write to us.
On the Shopify card, Invoice your store orders starts off. With Create the draft when the order is paid, every paid store order creates its draft invoice in Cord:
| From the order | In the draft |
|---|---|
| Customer | The Cord client linked to that Shopify customer; created if it does not exist. |
| Products | One line per product with its quantity and the price after the order discount. |
| Shipping | One line with its cost, if any. |
| Currency | The one the customer paid in. |
| Tax | The order’s rate if it exists in your tax catalog; otherwise your account’s. |
You review the draft and issue it: Cord never issues on its own, because issuing is your tax decision and, in Mexico, a stamped CFDI cannot be undone without canceling it with the SAT. An order creates a single draft, and orders Cord created from a quote are not invoiced here, since they already have theirs. An order without a customer (guest checkout) is not invoiced.
What flows and in which direction
| Direction | What flows | When |
|---|---|---|
| From Shopify to Cord | Products (one variant, one product, with price, SKU and status) and customers. | When you connect, when you click Sync now and within seconds every time they change in Shopify. |
| From Shopify to Cord | Stock for a product that tracks inventory. | When syncing and when the editor asks for it as you add the product. |
| From Shopify to Cord | The customer’s B2B price list. | When you pick the client in the editor. |
| From Shopify to Cord | A paid store order, as an invoice draft. | When the order is paid, if you turned on Invoice your store orders. |
| From Cord to Shopify | One order per quote, as a draft or as paid. | When the quote is approved or paid, depending on what you chose. It starts off. |
| From Cord to Shopify | Nothing else. Cord never changes your store’s prices, products, customers or inventory directly. | — |
What you change in Cord on a product or a customer that came from Shopify does not go back to the store. If that product or customer later changes in Shopify, Shopify’s data replaces yours. A customer you delete in Shopify stays in Cord.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Stores per organization | One |
| Sync now | Up to 3 times per hour |
| One full sync | Up to 2,000 products (with up to 100 variants each) and up to 4,000 customers; later changes arrive through Shopify’s notifications |
| Products and customers in Cord | Your plan’s: 50 and 50 on Free, 500 and 500 on Starter, no limit from Pro |
| Orders per quote | One, even if the event repeats |
| Invoice drafts per order | One; orders without a customer are not invoiced |
Disconnect
With Disconnect on the card. Products and customers already in Cord stay and stop updating. If you uninstall the app from Shopify, Cord detects it and marks the connection as disconnected.
Common issues
| Message or symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Enter your store domain” | Use the one ending in myshopify.com, not your own domain. |
| “We could not verify the response came from Shopify” | Start again from Cord, not from a saved link. |
| The card asks you to reconnect | Someone uninstalled the app or changed its permissions. Connect it again. |
| No order was created | Check the quote’s history: it says whether it was the currency, a missing permission or a Shopify rejection. |
