Argentina

Each invoice authorized by ARCA with its CAE, in the type that matches your VAT status and your client’s.

What it is

In Argentina each invoice must be authorized by ARCA, which assigns its number and its CAE (electronic authorization code). Cord talks directly to ARCA’s web services, without an intermediary, using your CUIT’s certificate: it builds the document, requests authorization, and stores the response. The PDF prints the CAE, its expiration, and ARCA’s QR code.

Electronic invoicing with ARCA is built and being activated: Cord turns it on country by country. Meanwhile, Settings › Tax profile says Coming soon and your invoices are issued as commercial invoices without tax validity. This feature is new and may not be enabled on your account yet. If you don’t see it, contact us.

Requirements

  • Plan: Starter or higher to issue with ARCA. On Free, commercial invoice (10 per month).
  • A point of sale created in ARCA as “Factura electrónica - Web services”.
  • Your CUIT’s ARCA certificate associated with the electronic invoicing service (wsfe): the .crt that ARCA issues and the private key you used to request it, or a .p12/.pfx file. You generate it in ARCA with your tax password (clave fiscal).
  • Your VAT status: Responsable Inscripto, Monotributo, or Exento.
  • Permissions: Settings for the tax profile; Quotes to issue; Collections for the credit note.

Set up your account

  1. In Settings › Tax profile, complete your legal name, your CUIT, and your address under Invoice identity.
  2. Under Electronic invoicing with ARCA, complete the point of sale (web service), your VAT status, what you sell (products, services, or both) and, if you want, your gross income tax number and the start of activities.
  3. Under ARCA certificate, upload the .crt and .key (or the .p12) with the key password if it has one. Cord validates that it belongs to your CUIT and shows its validity.
  4. On each Argentine client, choose their VAT status on their profile: it decides the invoice type.

Taxes

Settings › Taxes of an account in Argentina: the starter catalog Cord seeds, with 4 profiles, the default one marked and the note that rates apply per line.
  • IVA 21% (default), 10.5%, 27%, and Exento, per line item. ARCA receives IVA by rate; a 0% line item is reported as exempt.
  • Monotributo and exempt issuers issue type C, without itemized IVA.
  • The document discount (bonificación) travels already split across line items, so the net amount, the bases, and IVA match the invoice.

Invoice type

The type comes from ARCA’s table using your status and your client’s:

Your status Client Type
Responsable Inscripto Responsable Inscripto or Monotributo A
Responsable Inscripto End consumer, exempt, or others B
Monotributo or Exento Any C
  • Recipient: with CUIT, with DNI, or an unidentified end consumer (types B and C only, and below 10,000,000 ARS). From that amount, the end consumer must be identified with their DNI or CUIT.
  • If your client has a CUIT and you did not capture their status, Cord asks for it before issuing.
  • Services: the invoice reports the billed period (from the service dates) and the payment due date.
  • Foreign currency: Cord reports the document’s frozen exchange rate if your accounting currency is ARS; otherwise, ARCA’s official rate. Without an exchange rate it is not issued.

Status before ARCA

Detail of invoice FA-A-00003-00000127 from Pampa Software (Argentina) to Distribuidora Río de la Plata, for $4,101,900.00 ARS: items, taxes and balance at the top; below, the invoice details and the ARCA panel with the status before the authority.
Status What it means
Authorized by ARCA It has a CAE; the panel shows the CAE and its expiration.
Waiting for ARCA to confirm It was sent and Cord checks the result.
ARCA did not authorize the invoice Rejected, with the reason. Correct it and issue again.
ARCA did not register this attempt It never arrived: the number is free.

If a response is lost, Cord checks ARCA’s last authorized document before doing anything: it never requests two CAEs for the same invoice. In ARCA’s test environment the number carries the H- prefix and the invoice says it has no tax validity.

Void or correct

A document with a CAE is not voided: it is offset with a credit note of the same type, to the same recipient and in the same currency, associated with the invoice it adjusts. Void invoice takes you down that path.

Get paid online

Cord Payments does not open accounts in Argentina: online collection is with Mercado Pago, on the quote link and the invoice link, with the methods Mercado Pago has enabled on your account. You can also record a transfer by hand.

Common problems

Settings says Coming soon. Electronic invoicing with ARCA is being activated. Your invoices come out as commercial invoices.

The client’s VAT status is missing. Choose it on their profile: it decides whether the invoice is A or B.

ARCA requires identifying the end consumer. The amount exceeds 10,000,000 ARS. Add the client’s DNI or CUIT.

The certificate is not accepted. It must belong to your CUIT, be valid, and be associated with the electronic invoicing service in ARCA.
